The Tower of London

Yesterday the SWJ team had a little afternoon out at the Tower of London, organised by the lovely Jenny. Our main area of interest was of course The Jewel Tower, however the jewels were a little out of our league. Such as the huge Cullinan diamond, which originally weighed approximately 3,000ct in its rough state. It was then cut into nine large stones, 96 small brilliants and nine carats of unpolished fragments.  Not sure we will ever be working with stones of such size…one can only dream!

Huge suits of armour meticulously engraved and gold carved coronation plates and flagons, these old craftsmen could really teach us a thing or two. All three of us at SWJ had not visited the London attraction in years but each one of us were wowed all over again.
