This afternoon Hannah took us to the butterfly tent at the Natural History Museum. We saw some whoppers, and some really beautiful colours. Though, I am not sure Hannah and Jenny appreciated them flapping about their faces!
Hannah has drawn butterflies for commission pieces before, so was nice for her to show Jenny and I something that is close to her heart.
The ingenious part of the outing was that she then took us over the road to the V&A jewellery collection, where the butterfly inspiration to some of the early 20th century Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movement pieces was obvious.
You can also see the inspiration for Tiffany glass, in particular lamps, in the wings of the butterflies.
Lovely afternoon out, thanks Hannah!
